Organic food is prepared from organic farming which is a method of fertilization. In this method, food is prepared without pesticide, synthetic fertilizers, sewage, sludge, bioengineering and ionizing radiation.Organically raised animals are given organic feed and kept free from growth hormones and antibiotics. Organic fertilizers act as soil conditioner, feeding both soil and plants. These include plants and animal manure.A method called "BIOLOGICAL PEST CONTROL'' is used to control pests. Organic farming reduces pollution and this is one of the reason that people like to buy organic food.
Organic products are less contaminated than conventionally grown products, as there is lower level of pesticide residue in them. Pesticide residue means, the pesticide that remain in or on our food after they applied to crops.Less exposure to these residues are beneficial for pregnant women, young children and old people with chronic health problems. Developing brains are extremely vulnerable to
pesticide residue exposure. People choose organic food because they want to avoid pesticide. Organic milk has higher level of omega-3 fatty acid and lower level of omega 6-fatty acid, the latter is believe to be unhealthy for heart. and omega-3 fatty acids has a lot of beneficial effect on our body. The organic food are rich in phosphorus and good for those who has phosphorus deficiency. The have higher level of antioxidants and lower level of chemicals like cadmium and arsenic in them.Cadmium is chemical that is toxic, naturally found in soil and absorbed by plants. However its amount in organic food is less than conventionally grown food. It cause diseases like kidney stones, etc.
Products having"natural-label"on them does not means that they are organic, it means that they are free from any artificial flavoring, color or preservative.
The disadvantage of organic food is that they cost a lot because of expensive farming practice and some of their crops contain E. coli and other bacteria because of fecal material that is used as fertilizer. There is only a little difference in nutrients and anti nutrients content in organic and conventionally grown food which i had mention. There is not sufficient evidence in medical literature that claim that organic food is safer or healthier than conventionally grown food.
