SALT IS BAD FOR HEALTH?

Salt available in market from different sources like marine salt by desalination and salt from mines. To prevent iodine deficiency iodized salt can also be seen.Historically salt used to preserve food because it stops the growth of bacteria. But now it is added in food to enhance flavoring. We all depend on it due to our tongue. we can't imagine life without it and we don't have to. The thing is moderation is important eating too much salt is as bad as eating too little. It is believed that salt increase blood pressure. Raised blood pressure is major cause of development of cardiovascular diseases.
Salt is biggest dietary source of sodium. When we eat salt, it will enter in bloodstream, this blood enters in kidney and disturbs it's function. Kidney's function is to pull out water and toxic substances from blood through osmosis. Higher salt concentration in blood disturbs osmosis and due to this water enters in blood increasing blood pressure. Excess dietary salt consumption over a long period of exposure is associated with increased blood pressure and cardiovascular diseases. when blood pressure rises the wall of arteries become thick and tough and become narrower due to this blood cannot reaches to heart and brain causing heart attack and stroke. High salt intake also cause stomach cancer destroying its lining and exposing it to carcinogen. Its not sodium that is important , sodium and potassium ratio should be balanced, they both have opposite effect on heart function. High sodium intake increase blood pressure while high potassium intake relaxes blood vessels and decrease blood pressure. You can't expect much health boost if potassium is not simultaneously increased when sodium is lowered. Reducing salt is one of the quickest way to reduce your blood pressure particularly if you have already high blood pressure but if you are healthy eating too little salt can be harmful. Low salt diet increase insulin resistance.
